How I was wrong about anxiety
Hey everyone!
I’m super excited to bring you what’s hopefully going to be a pretty regular thing. I have the cool opportunity to meet some fascinating people, and as you know I love talking. So I thought I’d marry the two! What you’re seeing here is the first of many conversations I want to bring you from authors, disrupters, and business, thought, and faith leaders. These are people who are not just going to challenge you, but they’re challenging me.
And that’s why I’m so excited about this first conversation. Ya’ll…I need to admit something to you. And it’s not something I’m proud of. Up until recently I was wrong about anxiety. I thought it was something people could just get over, or that they were probably hyping it up a little too much. But this last year has shown me how wrong I was. Embarrassingly wrong.
One of the big reasons I’m able to tell you I am wrong is because of my friend Jonathon M. Seidl. I call him Jon. Jon has suffered from debilitating anxiety for most of his life, and was diagnosed with it (as well as OCD) back in 2014. He’s just written a book about his experience battling it, and I can’t tell you how incredible it is.
In his book, “Finding Rest: A Survivor’s Guide to Navigating the Valleys of Anxiety, Faith, and Life,” he walks all of us through his experience in incredible detail. It’s a book for those who are struggling like him, yes, but it’s ALSO a book for those like me who have failed to understand exactly what anxiety is (and fail to identify it in my own life…but that’s another blog post), why it is, and what those suffering can do to fight back. In fact, there’s a whole chapter just for people like me!
But there’s also a whole chapter for one of the most important players in all of this: the church. Jon talks about how the church hasn’t been so great for people with mental health issues, and how it can do better. Not in an irreverent way, but in a helpful way.
So, with all that said, I want you to take a little time and join me for my chat with Jon. We talk about everything from what exactly anxiety is, when to consider medication, and how we can all best support those who are struggling.
Before we do, though, please PLEASE hit the button below and go pre-order his book NOW. It’s taking the internet by storm. I’ve read it and I can see exactly why it became the #17 new release on all of Amazon. I also want to encourage you that if you’re a church leader, put in a bulk order. There’s a link for that below, where you can get a crazy discount. You need this to give to your people, not only who are struggling but also who want to understand it all.
As always, let me know what you think. You can email me at holly@hollytate.com. Enjoy!
